Photographs collected and possibly taken by historian Terence O'Donnell (b. 1924), former professor of Persian studies at Portland State University (1971-1990) and researcher and writer at the Oregon Historical Society (1972-1989). The photographs date from circa 1996 and depict O'Donnell, his cabin at Seaview, Wash., the ferry and landing at Westport, Or., and unidentified children, possibly relatives of O'Donnell.

Terence O'Donnell was born in Portland, Oregon in 1924. He received his Ph.D from the University of Chicago in 1950. He studied modern history at Trinity College in Dublin from 1954 to 1956. After a year of work in Germany, he lived in Iran for 14 years. Tehran, Isfahan, and Shiraz were the centers of his employment as an English teacher, Fulbright lecturer, Peace Corps instructor and farmer.
